Broncos shoot down Jets

The Broncos defense needs a nickname. Two weeks ago it smothered Tampa Bay’s Baker Mayfield. On Sunday, it shot down the Jets’ Aaron Rogers, 10-9. It is yielding just 5.117 yards per attempt per QCYPA. DB Patrick Surtain is getting a lot of credit. But in New York DE Zach Allen, NT Malcolm Roach, LB Jonah Ellis, and DB Ja’Quan McMillian came up big. You cannot call them the “No Name Defense.” That is taken. “Orange Crush” is also taken. How about the “Brononymous Defense?”

The Commanders are on a surprising three-game winning streak sparked by rookie QB Jayden Daniels. But I find something else even more surprising. Their play design differential is a perfect 0.000. Washington’s QCYPA is 8.322. It’s DQCYPA is 8.321 and slight variations in yards pass protection and pass pressure level up the .001 difference in the passing game.

Doug Pederson is not having fun. Mega-bucks QB Trevor Lawrence is not sustaining offense (5.208 QCYPA). He is being sacked for a whopping -.877 yards per attempt. The defense is not much better (8.176 DQCPYPA). It has 1 takeaway. My longshot ticket on the Jaguars winning the AFC looks as lifeless as the Jags on the field.
